15-16 1st Half | Commentary

SUMMARY

after an exciting win last week we find outselves in the finals of the first half against Fibber McGees...we get to their bar to find another match is taking place....it's crowded and annoying...but we have to get past that...it was pretty much back and forth all night....but it felt like we were chasing majority of the night...we gave it a gallant effort but we came up short and lost the night 6-8....

Fortunately we didn't collect fines tonight since it was the playoffs...because from a quick look it appears we would have owed about 26 in fines last week and 23 in fines this week...so in 2 weeks of playoffs we would have owed 46 in fines....that's just not very good at all...

we hit our goal of a 50 team average for the 7th week in a row ...we had 1 shooter over a 60...3 shooters over a 50 this week ... and 2 players over a 45...so that's pretty good shooting...

Jeff shot over 90% both weeks of the playoffs...that equates to only 3 shots under a 40 the last two weeks...Ted shot over 70% the past two weeks...focusing back on this week we had 5 shooters shoot under 60%...which pretty much means every other shot was under a 40....and that's not going to get it done...

Jeff started an 801 game with a 7 (which we lost)....horrible...Ed started an 801 game with a 6 and also hit an 8 in the same game (which we lost)...

after 9 out of 10 weeks with single digit missed ins we come out in the playoffs and chuck up 21+12 (=33) missed ins....Ed struggled all playoffs only hitting 2-14 ins...not very good for a first shooter...either way I said earlier tonight that they would be getting in by one of their first 3 shooters which I think they pretty much did...our missed ins had us playing from behind all night...Bob and Hop didn't get a shot at an in...

double digit missed outs...10 of those were in the last game of the night...the biggest problem is we didn't get down to out shots in enough games... 4 of our games we were still over 100 when they won...not very good...but "Playoff" Frankie showed up again this week...after going the whole season without an out...Frankie had an out last week in the semis and a very nice 91 out this week to steal a game....

well we gave it our all...but we came up just short....there are many things we need to work on to improve but I appreciate everyone's efforts to get us this far this half...the 2nd half doesn't start until January 21...so don't be afraid to pick up your darts between now and then and work on the things you need to focus on...either way hope everyone has a nice Chrismas and New Years...we will try and pick a night or 2 to get together to shoot before the 2nd half starts....
